Project Matrix
Project Matrix is a subgroup of the Diplomatic Spouses Group of Ethiopia (DSGE) created to fund and build the capacity of a variety of small-scale development projects throughout Ethiopia. We support specific projects in order to raise the standard of living, and increase the prospects of independent and sustainable living for the most vulnerable (groups of) people in diverse regions of Ethiopia. We focus on the most vulnerable, which include women, children and disabled.
The most common areas that Project Matrix work on include: income generating activities; addressing water shortages; upgrading hospitals, clinics and schools; providing specialized equipment to handicapped people; and addressing food insecurity for instance by creating gardens at schools.
All our funds come from the different fundraising activities carried out by the DSGE, including the most important, the Diplomatic Bazaar.
How we work
Members of Project Matrix are also members of the DSGE and come from a variety of countries and professional backgrounds. Project Matrix has a Chair, a Vice-Chair and a secretary and members from the DSGE who are actively participating in evaluating projects. The subgroup meets once a month.
Every project proposal is evaluated by a team of DSGE members who actively participate in project Matrix. The evaluation is a full assessment consisting of revision of the official documents (NGO registration, audit reports etc.) and assessing if the proposal is in line wih the Project Matrix mission, sustainability and financial guidelines. Project Matrix aims to visit the charity organisation as part of the assessment. The evaluation team brings the findings of the assessment to the monthly meeting for voting and funding.
